Dental Braces and Invisalign, What Are The Differences?

What are the dental braces and invisalign?

Dental braces are metal brackets placed directly on the teeth with glue and tied together by wires and tiny rubber bands. Whereas invisalign refers to invisible and removable proprietary appliance that requires to wear by the patients, but not metal wires required. Both of them are effective to straighten crowded, cross bites, overbites and under bite teeth.

Advantages and disadvantages of invisalign

Advantages: There are so many advantages of invisalign and the main benefit of this treatment is convenient and less noticeable. The invisible plastic or ceramic made invisalign devices does not require any metal wire or rubber to hold the teeth, rather than it is specially made for each patient after evaluating by x-rays and other necessary analysis by the dentists. 

Disadvantages: There are some limitations with this treatment like it provides the dentists less direct control over the teeth and takes longer time to accomplish the treatment. Also, invisalign sometime not effective for treating severe types of dental issues like vertical movement of teeth, severe tooth rotation, or complex bite issues.

Advantages and disadvantages of dental braces

Advantages: Using dental braces is considered as traditional but most effective orthodontic treatment for many days. Dental braces treatment take short period of time to fix severe types of crowded and misaligned teeth. Typically dental braces are less expensive that the other techniques, so mass people can use this dental treatment. 

Disadvantages: The dental braces are visible on the teeth which looks so ugly. The metal wires of the braces can cause physical discomfort and wires can poke and irritate mouth. Also, using braces require maintenance and cleaning. Dental braces also require some specific foods restrictions like popcorn, nuts, hard taco shells, sticky and hard candy, gum, ice, corn chips, pretzels, hard cookies or crackers, sticky or hard chocolates.

Which one is better, dental braces or invisalign?

Both dental braces and invisalign are popular and effective orthodontic treatment usually suggested by the dentists or orthodontists. Using braces are traditional but well proven and very effective methods, beside invisalign newer but more easy and comfortable way to get dental care.
